Kanchanaburi is
located about 130 km west of Bangkok. Its environment is rather pleasant
with quite a few rivers, and pleasant river resorts.

One of the major attractions to
foreigners is the bridge over the river Kwai, immortalized in the movie of
the same name.
The bridge is still standing, part of it original (it was
destroyed after all during the war). Closeby are the Allied War Cemeteries,
and the JEATH war museum. Many, both locals and prisoners of war, perished
in constructing the railway from Thailand to Burma, needed as a supply line
for their troops during WW II by the Japanese.
Kanchanaburi
offers stunning natural beauty, caves, spectacular waterfalls and parks as
well as adventure tours including our famous elephant treks through the
famous River Kwai.
